How did PING get their name?

The company Ping, known for its golf equipment, was founded by Karsten Solheim in 1959. The name "Ping" originated from the sound that Solheim's putters made when they struck the ball. He thought the distinctive "ping" sound was a pleasant and memorable characteristic, and it ultimately became the name of his company. The brand has since become synonymous with high-quality golf clubs and equipment.

DID YOU KNOW: Among Ping putters, some models have become highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts due to their rarity and historical significance. One of the most valuable is the Ping Anser, particularly the original models from the early 1960s. The Anser putter was groundbreaking with its innovative design, including its heel-toe weighting and forged construction, which set new standards in the industry. Other valuable models include the Ping Pal and the Ping Zing putters, especially those with unique features or limited production runs. The condition, provenance, and specific features of these putters can significantly affect their value, making them prized possessions for both golfers and collectors.
